Front page article in Thursday morning's El Paso Times:

PARVO VIRUS STRIKES EL PASO DOGS AGAIN by Bernadette Self

... The outbreak could surpass last year's deadly toll if pet owners
don't vaccinate their canine companions, veterinarians said. . . ."

QUESTION: is canine parvo virus contagious to our "most loyal friends" -
ferrets? (I didn't see it mentioned in the FAQ - did I miss it?)

It is already spreading in this area - I personally know of at least 2 dogs
currently under treatment - one adult mixed shepherd, one a 6-week old
rottweiler. We met the pup at the vet's when I took a ferret in for a
distemper booster today.

Many thanks in advance to any vet who can reassure / advise me on this.
I've never heard of ferrets getting parvo, but I want to make sure. We
have our club meeting next week, and I will pass on all info I can get
about this. (I'm glad all of you vets are part of the FML! - you've
been a valuable resource to us, and to many of our regular vets as well.
Thank You!)
