Whoops. I see it's time for my semi annual bathing advice. <G>

Regardless of book statements to the contrary, ferrets do not need bathing
on any regular basis. In fact the frequent bathing usually results in
increased ferret body odor and (as been found by the original postee) dry
skin.

We bath ours, maybe once a year or less. You can put your nose right into
their fur and barely notice any ferret odor. If you are bathing to decrease
the odor, stop, wait for a month. In the meantime change the bedding at
least once a week and dip the litter boxes daily; feed a good ferret food
that is very low in fish content. In a month the odor will greatly
diminish.

For dry skin now, there is Mane and Tail Conditioner, made by Straight
Arrow. It's sold in Walmart. Originally made for horses, works well on
humans and ferrets. A little goes a long way, and does moisturize well.
Avon Skin So Soft and water, spritzed on the ferret also works after it is
rubbed in well.
