Deana,
Don't mind the spelling, I'm trying to type with a dog and cat in my
lap <G>.
 
If you keep a fan directed to circulate the air in the room where your
ferret lives, and provide some ice packs ( I use 1 liter soda bottlesabout
half-full, wrapped in a towel) they do pretty well.  I also recommend cool
soaks in the tub if your ferret seems distressed.
 
If that doesn't help, see a vet ASAP!
