Hello, folks.  Re issue 151;

Beau: to the best of my knowlege, the Mortons sold Path Valley a couple
of years ago.
The marketing flier for Marshall Farms (the one they give to pet
retailers) says that "the public sees neutered and descented ferrets as
better pets." Apparently the idea is to create a convenience animal.
(Take it home, add water and go.) It is done to kits because pet stores
do not want adult animals; they aren't cute and don't attract impulse
buyers.

The only veterinarians I know of who support infant neutering have a
financial interest in the procedure; so I take their support of it in
the same light that I take the Tobacco Institute's claims that smoking
is as harmless.

In my experience (I have owned over 100 ferrets and have had almost
200 come through here counting shelter ferrets) I have known only ONE
convenience kit to have made it to its sixth birthday. I know of only
three who have made it to five...

p.s., for those who are waiting eagerly, the Weasel Help Monthly was
mailed this AM (5 July). It should take between one and three weeks
to reach those who get it.
