Natural Gold food does have a strong scent but I don't think it's
unpleasant..  The older formula did have a very sweet, fruity smell.
However, if you're concerned that you may have a bad batch, double check
the expiration date on the bag.  The new bags are stamped in a white box
on the side of the bag with the date of manufacture and the expiration
date.  The older bags had a blue sticker on the bag with the date of
manufacture but do not have an expiration date.  The food is generally
good for about two years from the date it was manufactured.
