Been reading the thread on donations and just had to add my say.
Outlawdook had a good post yesterday and I find myself agreeing with alot
that was said. I have tried to live by the old adage-which I have twisted
just a little-You reap what you sew and someday I may need a blanket to
cover my *ss! I give what I can when I can. I know I would be
hard-pressed to come up with a thousand dollars for a surgery-but I do
have a five I can send here, or a ten I can send there!! When I order
from Jeffers, I always order more than I need and it goes in a box for a
shelter. I am not able to send out as many as I'd like-but every little
bit helps! I decide where and what I send by each individual situation.
And yes, several times I have sent money to someone who has had huge vet
bills and yet ended up going out and getting another ferret. My feelings
about this may be off-but if I cared about this person enough to send them
money-then it is because I believed them to be a good and decent human
being who genuinely cares for their ferrets! And if they took in another
ferret-good for the ferret! I am happy to see that maybe one who hasn't
had such a great life up to this point has finally made it in to a home
that will love them, care for them and keep them safe and healthy! I could
be wrong-been that many, many times in my life. Could be wrong about this,
too, but I felt BOB C's post on "how many ferrets" was excellent! I never
got the idea that he was telling me how many ferrets I could or could not
have. I think it was a post designed to make us stop and think and judging
from the response it has gotton it worked!! We are all thinking "rescue"
and "escape" plans! So again-thanks Bob! I'm off on vaction now and will
miss you all!
