Just a note to let everyone know that the Mass Friends of the Domestic Ferret
Group had an event in the Town of Wakefield, MA this past Friday and Saturday
and collected 177 signatures on a petition. This petition will be sent into
Senator Thomas Birmingham, Chairman of the Senate Ways and Means Committee to
help push House Bill 295.

We had a lot of people coming up to the table, tons of literature was handed
out. Everyone seemed very positive with this issue. We did have a couple of
crabs walk by but all in all, it was very positive. A lot of people
confessed that they had ferrets. We even had a young lady stop by from
California who got "educated" on the fight out there. Also, since we
couldn't have live ferrets there (FFZ) we played the video Ferrets Unmasked.
It was the next best thing to the real thing.

Everyone who signed the petition got a green ribbon to show solidarity with
the rest of the country's ferret freedom fighters. Each also got a small
handout explaining this.

Also, all the information we have on ECE Virus was made available for people
to take. Being in a FFZ, most of the ferret owners here in MA don't know
about ECE and I think with events like this it will help to educate owners on
this.

I want to also thank BIG - Bill Gruber who came by and helped us. What a
wonderful surprise to have him there. Ronnie, thanks for bringing him!
Also, would like to thank all the volunteers for coming by will mention them
by first name only, Bill, Tricia, Mike, Joyce, Ronnie, BIG, Brian and Tina.
Hope I didn't leave anyone out . Thanks so much for your help.

[Moderator's note: I met quite a few people there from the FML whom I
hadn't met before - was nice to see everyone. And the event was very
well put together, I think. BIG]
