First, my (currently 7) ferrets live in my basement. Don't take that
wrong. Their cages are in the (finished) rec room where my daughter plays
(which means they get to play with all her toys and they LOVE that!). Our
computers are in the basement too - in a room right off the rec room.
When it's playtime, the ferrets get the run of both - the rec room and
the computer room.

Now, most of the cleaning products I use are nowhere near the ferrets
because all bathrooms and the kitchen are upstairs. I don't have any
furniture that requires dusting in the ferret rooms either.

I have always tried to use environmentally good products and things that
are as nontoxic as possible since I've had dogs and cats for as long as
I've been married and had my own house. When I found out I was pregnant,
this became even more important since I didn't want the baby to be able to
get into anything toxic.

I use: baking soda, vinegar, and lemon juice generally for a number of
things.

Specifically,
    For toilets: Ecover Toilet Cleaner
For kitchen sink/stovetop - Bon Ami
For bathroom sinks/kitchen counters/microwave, etc. - Life Tree
        All-Purpose Spray cleaner
For tile/tub and shower - Earth Rite Tub and Tile Cleaner
For dusting - Earth Friendly Products Furniture Polish
For glass and mirrors - Earth Rite Glass Cleaner

I also use Febreze when/where necessary. As long as it is dry before the
ferrets walk where I spray, I've had no problems.

Finally, Nature's Miracle is used for stains and to clean out cages (also
Critter Fresh int he cages).
