Hi, all,

My (slightly spastic) youngster Boo-Boo has a similar habit. When I use a
water bowl (the type that clips onto a horizontal cage bar), she picks up
the front edge of the bowl in her mouth, and allows it to slam down. Aside
from being very annoying when I'm trying to sleep (she does it repeatedly,
sometimes for as long as 20 minutes), the result is that water sloshes all
over the floor of the cage, which she then laps up. She does sometimes
drink right out of the bowl, but really likes to lick water off the bottom
of the cage. (Licking water off my finger is also a real treat for her.) To
save the mess, I use a water bottle, which both she and Murphy seem to like.

She also likes to take the cat water bowl "on the road"--drag it across the
kitchen floor, stopping every now and then, which of course allows water to
slosh all over the kitchen floor. Don't know if she's trying to stash the
water bowl in one of her hiding places, or if she really does prefer to
drink off the floor instead of out of a bowl. Drinking out of a bowl has
always looked awkward for both Murph and Boo-Boo, since they seem to have to
kind of crane their necks, even if the bowl is positioned properly.

Happy ferreting!
