When it's hot does anyone else's ferrets prefer to sleep over anything
else??? The last few days they've been let out in the morning and they go
upstairs after b-fast. They stay inside their father's sweatpants or a
dresser drawer and sleep the day away. The only problem with that is their
food and water is downstairs. Friday I gathered up Cyrano after realizing
that he hadn't come downstairs all day and insisted that he eat and drink
at least a smidgeon. When it gets hot...are they like people and just
don't feel like eating??? That's what it seemed like with Cyrano. I've
got ceiling fans in every room except the kitchen & bath rooms. I've been
thinking about getting a cage fan too or a window fan. Is 80-84 degrees
too hot???

If they insist on staying upstairs am I going to have to put an accessible
water/food dish upstairs also??? Or is staying upstairs all day long ok???
I know you guys said they will eat every couple hours but when they go
out to play...they just don't come back to the cage very often if at all!
(Cyrano went from one extreme to the other...was eating everything not
nailed down...now he nibbles here and there.) How do the free roamers keep
track of how long it's been and do I need to??? I thought using the cage
as the main base and keeping all the necessities in there was okay but are
my guys telling me I need some upstairs too??? So far all I've done is
put a litterbox upstairs but they don't use it. They insist on using the
spot right next to the toilet where one won't fit but at least it's
*almost* in the right spot...easy to pick up with toilet paper...could be
worse I guess. Especially since Merlin loves opening all the dresser
drawers. Also if they sleep all day long.! ..is it okay that they're not
out running around getting exercise???

It probably sounds stupid to ask these questions but I'd just rather be
safe than sorry. I have no idea if the major sleeping and not
eating/drinking a lot is a bad sign in the heat or not or if it's just
normal. It's just different from their regular routine where they'd get
up and play or chase the cat or dog around until they got sick of it.
Lately the most play I see is when the dirt bin comes in from our hallway
or when they go outside. Even the ice cube game has worn a little thin.
