GEnie Pet-Net RT Ferret Topics

For Elizabeth Newman, re finding vets in states where ferrets are
illegal AND allergy to ferrets vs cats.
Eliz - the question is, why would the person deliberately risk the
life of the ferret to own own where it is illegal. We've discussed
this subject at some length on GEnie, and varied opinions emerged. The
vets in such a state are under no obligation to treat an illegal pet,
and often such vets consider ferrets "wild animals" and are only tuned
in to the various bits of faulty information regarding them. Better to
change the laws and THEN get the pet.
And re allergies, I am VERY allergic to cats and dogs, and tho I am
also allergic to our 7 ferrets, it is a much less irritating allergy.
It's LOTS easier to wash a ferret than a cat or a dog. And tho my
allergist would rather see me pet-free, it ain't gonna happen!
