Farewell My Friend

Now I lay you down to sleep
The doctor said you were too weak.
You fought the fight, you did your best
But now I lay you here to rest.
 
I begged the Maker to set you free
No more suffering is there to be.
Thru tears of sorrow as I weep,
I pray the Lord your soul to keep.
Across the bridge to the rainbows light
Your soul shall fly on wings tonight.
 
Fly on my love, fly free and high.
Remember me from time to time.
You will remain here in my heart
Right where you left your special mark.
And when My time on earth is at an end
We will be together forever, my ferret, my friend.
