Hey all!
Well, we moved this past weekend. We are still in Gainesville, but now we
are in an apartment in married student housing (since David is a UF
student). The good things: bigger place and cheaper rent. The bad thing:
ferrets are not allowed. So we are now undercover, I'm sorry to say. I
removed all the ferret bumper stickers from the car, and I'll have to start
being discreet with ferret mail and ferret stuff. We have to drive to the
park for walks now. :( We are trying to get into the habit of not
mentioning the F-word around any university-affiliated people. (This
happens to be a classification that includes about 65% of this town,
however.) Around those people, McKyle and Merlin are now Guinea Pigs. Or,
sometimes Skinny Guineas. Does anyone out there (maybe you Californians)
have any advice on how to best live undercover with ferrets in an
anti-ferret place? This is all new to me.

Now I have a story that is funny and sad at the same time. Recently we
noticed two large, red, irritated spots on Merlin's tummy. We thought they
looked like bug bites, but the strange thing was that they were symmetrical
on his belly.... One was kind of in the crook of each of his hind legs, just
below his wee-wee. So Merlin went to see Dr. K. Well, it turns out that
those two red spots were *abrasions* from Merly's belly dragging on the
ground because he is **too fat**! I just about died when I heard that.
Merly-butt was prescribed a restricted diet and severely restricted treats.
Poor little guy, he is mad at Dr. K. and me and his Daddy for this awful
treatment! Merly loves to eat, and doesn't like to be told he can't!

Well, the abrasions are gone, and I can almost pick up Merlin with one hand
now!!! :p

Bye for now, and Happy Ferreting!
Rachelle & David (proud parents of 2 sweetest monsters in the world)
McKyle (Undercover? All right! I'm gonna do some serious toe-nabbin'!)
Merlin (Feed me, Mama! Can't you see I'm wastin' away? <Burp.>)
