Hello all,
I'm not sure who wrote in about a kit who didn't like linatone, raisins, or
peanut butter, but I had a similar experience. When I first got Monkey (6
weeks old) she completely ignored any and all treats I offered her. Now a
couple of weeks later, it is dangerous to try to give her a raisin because
she will practically bite my finger off in a feeding frenzy. She also tries
to bite, not lick, linatone off my finger in pure ecstasy. So I can attest
that yes, like people, ferrets likes and dislikes in food do change. I must
confess that I'm actually a little worried about how wild Monkey gets when I
try to give her treats(she acts more like a mink then a ferret at those
times). Jitterbug takes all treats gingerly and very gratefully, but Monkey
won't let you hold her at all when you try to give her treats. She actually
screamed! when I gave her a raisin, erratically trying to get away from me
and take the raisin (AND half my finger) with her. I am hoping that this
too is just a phase and she will calm down about treats soon. - I wanted to
teach her that being picked up is good by giving her a treat when I did it,
but that turned out to be impossible - .

I am still a little concerned about her interaction with Jitterbug.
Especially because she doesn't seem to let Jitterbug eat or drink if she's
awake (Monkey just sort of pushes Jitterbug out of the way - EVEN if Monkey
isn't hungry or thirsty herself). Jitterbug wants out of the cage all the
time, but there still isn't any blood or screaming so I'm trying to let them
work it out for themselves. I tried giving Jitterbug her own pile of food,
but Monkey then decided Jitterbug's food must be better and commandeered
that as well. Oh, one other thing, Monkey doesn't seem to care if she bites
the back of a neck or Jitterbugs face or even privates which also scares me.
It's only been two weeks and I'm sure I sound like a nervous ninny, but
somebody please remind me that this behavior WILL cease. Thanks for
listening.

     Rebecca :)
