Hi All
I wanted to thank both Sukie and Ilena for two terrific posts the other day
in regards to my question on rabies treatment. I had no idea there was so
much involved or that the expenses could run so high both in ferrets lives
and in dollar value. Vaccinations are the only way to go both in ferrets
and other domestic pets.

Our vet recently informed us they had switched from Galaxy D to Fervac for
ferret distemper vaccinations. I told him I would prefer to stick with
Galaxy D if we could, as I'm leery about Fervac after reading on the F.M.L.
some of the serious reactions the ferrets have had. I'm not against
Fervac, just not well informed. Could anyone who has had ferrets that have
reacted to Fervac please let me know the severity of the reaction and how
long afterwards it occurred. This way if our vet can no longer get the
Galaxy D then I'll have a better idea of what to watch for. So far on the
Galaxy D all seven ferrets have been fine and pre-treatment was never
really an issue. Out of all our members ferrets (around 200 plus) only a
handful have had a mild to medium reactions from the Galaxy D and as far as
I know there have been none with serious ones.
