The easiest way to eliminate carbs from their diet is to switch them to
a raw/whole prey diet and feed them twice a day. Ferrets on a natural
diet don't need food constantly available, as their gastrointestinal
system is able to utilize almost all of the nutrition in their food.
Regular kibble, OTOH, is probably only 30-40% assimilated at best due
to the high carb content so the ferret needs to eat every few hours to
get adequate nutrition. The low carb kibbles are better, but still not
as good as the diet their gastrointestinal system is designed to
process.

I've often wondered if IBD, ulcers, and the other gastrointestinal
diseases that kibble fed ferrets are so prone to are the end result
of constant stress and irritation to the digestive system. I've never
heard of IBD in a ferret which is fed a natural diet.
