In a post yesterday re: the VA shelter ing issue, Gordon wrote:

And while I can understand WHY Gordon has taken this position. This sis
a dangerous position. Ferrets are NOT exotic, ferrets arrived with
colonial settlers, were working animals- to put them into an exotic
category with monkeys and reptiles most certainly will in the future be
a step toward dis allowing them as pets period!

As earlier posts in the archives have reported- this is a PETA tactic
which has been working - classifying domesticated pets into exotic
classification state by state - and in the future each state will then
be petitioned to make illegal these unnecessary - exotic pets.

Anyone who wants to see this in writing should seek out a copy of the
publication Animal People Sept/ October where this in fact is a front
page issue! They applaud the PA twonship which has made ferret ownership
illegal!

I am not sure that this will help anyone in the long run- though Gordon I
do applaud you for being one person to address the governmental monster
in ferret sheltering!
