I've found these methods helpful in obtaining urine samples from ferrets:
 
Use No-Sorb Litter, available from your veterinarian.
 
Use Aquarium Rocks (available from Wal-Mart or anyplace that sells
aquarium supplies); just rinse them thoroughly first
 
Then, take a 10 or 12 ML syringe and draw up any urine that is left in
the box.
 
Please consult your doctor regarding the amount of time that the urine can
be stored safely before urinalysis.
