Melissa Litwicki had a posting on Saturday about the Midwest Cat Condo.

I would like to add something about this cage if anyone is planning on
purchasing one for their ferrets. Midwest does produce a "Ferret Playpen"
which is actually the Cat Condo modified with two perches and two ramps for
the ferrets to climb. It is a bit more expensive than the Cat Condo because
of the "extra" pieces.

I did purchase this Ferret Playpen for my guys, but after hanging the
hammocks from the top, I found that they were placed really high. It didn't
take long for clumsy Wolfie to fall off one of the hammocks. Luckily, he
didn't hurt himself. I had a friend who builds cages modify the cage by
inserting two floors into it. That way there, if someone falls off the
hammock, they will not fall very far. The floors were cut so the ramps that
came with the initial cage would fit and he re-inforced around the edging
with steel so they would not bend. The cut outs were just in front of the
two doors so I could access the cage freely in all compartments. I placed
the two plastic perches between the floors for added levels.

You may, just as a precaution, put metal clamps on the doors just above the
bars for added protection. My Amber Rose is always watching closely on how
that door works. I think its just a matter of time before she figures it
out.

Hope this helps anyone who does get one of these cages. I like them because
they are easy to clean, and they move around on the wheels. The only draw
back to having the floors placed inside permanently, is that you can not
collapse the cage.
