When my Gizmo broke his toe (first one on the right rear foot), my vet told
me not to worry about it if it wasn't causing him any pain and it wasn't
catching on things or making it hard for him to walk and that it wasn't
infected.  I have no idea how it happened (I suspect he got it caught in
the cage somehow), but it never seemed to bother him.  So we just let it
be.  It just kind of stuck out to the side at a funny angle instead of
straight ahead.
