Hello Everyone,

I hope all of you had a Great Holiday and lots of good food and fun with
the Fuzzbutts. Mine had treats and lots of play with a new Minnie Mouse
push toy, their own oversized key ring with keys, and new fuzzy blankets
from Grandmother. On a more serious note I have an issue that I need
some help and advice with. This will be a long post.

I have been going to a Pet Store in Bangor for years to buy food, hay and
other needed supplies. I choose to do business with them over the chains
because of the care they provided for their animals. Cages are cleaned
every morning, always fresh water and food. When they started selling
ferrets, they were in a ferret cage with hammock and provided with pellets
in their litter box. Always clean water and food. The ferrets were
socialized by the girls who worked there and most were handled everyday.

Recently this store has started keeping their little ferrets in an aquarium
filled with pine shavings. Their litter box has "cat clumping litter", the
cheapest brand they sell. I have told one or more of the employees that
this is not acceptable and offered suggestions on two prior occasions. The
last time I was in they had three new babies in that were 8 weeks old. The
cat litter had stuck on their tender little tushies and had become hard.
As we tried to soak it off there was light bleeding on all three. The
employee that helped me seemed concerned and put ointment on their little
behinds but as much as told me that her hands were tied. The decision to
house these precious babies in this matter was a management decision and it
was more cost effective. I left the parking lot in tears. When back at
home I called back to the store and talked with another employee. She
suggested that I write a letter to the manager. I did. I asked him to set
up a meeting so we could discuss my concerns. Two weeks have passed and I
have not heard a word about my letter. He has not called me. A couple of
days ago I needed pet supplies and went somewhere else for them to avoid
seeing this situation again. But I think of these poor little babies
several times a day.

I now want to take a copy this post into the store along with any replies I
can get regarding how irresponsible this new practice of care is and give
them to the employees and the manager. I am hoping that this being posted
on a public board and responded to will cause the management to rethink
their position on this important care matter. I would like to resolve this
in a mature manner with minimal hard feelings as I enjoyed shopping there.
I intend to stop shopping there if things aren't changed.

Thanks for listening and thanks for any advice and guidance you can give
me. Hugs to all fuzzies and their human slaves.

Kindest Regards,
Victoria (AKA thegiftlady)
