Hello All! Just a quick snippit today (ok maybe not so quick). Tavi went
in to have the cyst(?) on her head looked at today. The vet tried to pop it
but that didn't work so she is going to have surgery on 9/25 to have it
removed. The vet said it may be a birth defect just now showing it's ugly
head. He said he has never seen a derma-something (dermatoid cyst?) on a
ferret but there is a first time for everything.

It just galls me when people say stuff like 'Oh, you just feel like spending
some cash?' for the reason I am having it removed. It *hurts* her. That is
all the reason I need. Halo, a former ferret, had a cornea laceration when
he was a kit and my boyfriend at the time thought I was being over dramatic
about it. I said Halo might go blind if it wasn't taken care of. Sure
enough the vet said he might have even lost the eye had it been left to heal
on it's own because it was infected, and that he (the vet) wouldn't have
even noticed in a quick exam.

It has been confirmed, I am insane. I spent about 5 hours on and off sunday
fitting "carpet" to the ferrets wire cage floors. I had noticed they were
getting callouses(sp?) on their feetsies. I bought some of that fake
leather material with the cushioned underside and cut it to fit the cage. I
made individual cuts to attach it through the wires and then used snaps to
secure it. I ran out of snaps and ended up using those binder clips. It
looks great and there was only one place that they found to destroy it at.
Duct tape goes a long way!

As far as a "gate" or door blocker-- I recently did it using plexiglass from
Home Depot. Cost about $15.00. They cut it to my specifications 32X36 and
all I did was slide it into place and stick 2 pieces, again duct tape, of
tape on the sides to hold it into place. The tape comes off easily and
resticks when I need to use it again. Beware though "stoopid hoomans" will
walk right into it. My mom walks into it at least once a day. The dogs
like it because the get thier own little show through the plexiglass.

Well, that's all the ferrets will let me tell you for now.
Y'all have a great week!
