Thank you to everyone who replied to me about how to make a good ferret
cage. I only have one real question now.

Some people reccomended building a frame of wood, then attaching hardware
cloth to it. Hardware cloth certainly is cheaper than welded wire 1X2.
However, I'm wondering if using wood is okay for ferrets? I've heard pine
litter is toxic.

Has anyone had problems with wood absorbing urine? I know I can cover the
bottom with linolium, but sometimes it creaps under there, or would touch
the side supports. Can I use a wood sealant like a shelack/varnish coat?

Also, if wood doesn't last as long... how long are we talking?

Thanks,
Kalee
