To Georgette,

When Grendel escaped for a couple of days, he was noticeably skinnier
and grungier (and more cuddly) when we got him back. He's a real escape
artist, I think because he used to be able to go for regular walks, but
now he lives in a FFZ. We were moving more stuff into the house, so
there was a chain of stuff (chair, box, cabinet, box) that he could use
to climb up to a high window and dive out that.

So maybe the people who own him aren't so irresponsible. We put out hundreds of
posters with a $200 reward to get him back, but we still didn't have posters in
 the
area where he eventually turned up. He went a lot further than we thought he
 would.
We were *so* relieved to get him back--my girlfriend held him and cried for at
 least 5
minutes when I surprised her by bringing him to her at work. We had pretty much
 given
up on finding him, although we were prepared to keep trying much longer.
