Worth consideration by some depending on how they choose to feed (and I
know some who ONLY buy from small farms which do not given antibiotics
routinely except for illnesses for poultry or meat for their
ferrets)...

There IS an approach which has worked well in other nations: no
antibiotics for anything except existing infections for farm animals,
but that is not being done in the U.S.

A few small quotes:

>Nearly half of all meat and poultry sampled in a new study contained
>drug-resistant strains of Staphylococcus aureus... infections can
>take many forms, from a minor rash to pneumonia or sepsis....

>"The fact that drug-resistant S. aureus was so prevalent, and likely
>came from the food animals themselves, is troubling..."

>Antibiotics are routinely given to livestock to promote growth ...

>staph infection from the meat — can be reduced by cooking meat
>thoroughly and washing all foods or surfaces that come in contact
>with raw meat... wider danger ... that antibiotics will become
>increasingly ineffective

DO see the full article for clarifications.
