If there appears a sharp rise since 1980 between the increase of Adrenal
disease in ferrets and the use of commercial kibble, I am curious as to
what ferrets were fed prior to that time? Was it a homemade diet or
commercial foods?

As the making of pet kibble has become a multi-million dollar business
for companies who needed to dispose of "waste" and "by-products" from
other business ventures, I wonder how this might be affecting the ferret
food business and it has the dog and cat food industries.

While I do not personally know anyone who's connected with the manufacture
of dry/canned pet foods, I do know that there are countless stories on the
internet, radio, and television about diseased meat and "tainted" and/or
"spoiled" grains/meats and other products being utilized by the pet food
industry.

I personally can see the difference in a litter of pups that was born to a
mother that had been fed a commercial diet versus a natural/homemade diet.
I also see the difference in the pups as they mature. Certainly ferrets
shouldn't be that different. With disease in ferrets becoming such a hot
topic, wouldn't diet be a major relation to the increase in health problems?

Is the manufacture of ferret foods governed/watched as closely as the dog
and cat food industries? What about imported ferret food?
