To Meg Carpenter:

FWIW, in over 12 years of raising and rescuing ferrets, we have never had a
whole animal come down with adrenal carcinoma. This closely parallels the
experience of most shelters with whom we work on a continuing basis. I also
know of a number of breeders who swear they have never had a case of adrenal
tumors in their breeding stock. To be blunt, the *only* ferrets we have ever
had come down with adrenal tumors have been Marshall Farm rescues. It
remains to be seen whether the Canadian imports, which are also spay/neutered
early, will in time succumb to this disease.
