I should know this by now, as I have actually talked with both ferret
shelters within the Portland, OR, area, and have had in my possession
their respective phone numbers.  But I don't have them now, and I am not
positive as to their names, so I can't look them up in the phone book
very successfully.  Can someone out there who does know the phone numbers
for the ferret shelters in Portland email them to me?  I know someone who
might be interested in volunteering.
