Hello everyone!

I have been reading the list for a while now and have been too shy to post.

I enjoy hearing stories about other ferrets, especially when mine do the
same things.

What I would like to ask is if anyone has trouble with waxy build up in
their ferrets ears. I have two ferrets Jacques (sable, 6 months) and
Shmelly (albino, 2 years) who have pretty dirty ears. I bath and clean
their ears weekly. Lately, Shmelly has been sratching alot and when
Jacques started too, I went to the vet. I suspected ear mites.

Well, after an examination, ear swab and skin scraping, the vet determined
that there was no ear mites. The bill was $74!!!!! The vet now wants
me to clean their ears every day and come back in two weeks. Is this
necessary? How often do people normally clean their ferret's ears?

[Unfortunately, one of the drawbacks of living in Canada appears to be very
high bills for relatively simple vet visits. See my message below on
ear mites. Ed.]

To Yael Dragwyla: I have a friend in Vancouver who has two pregnant
females. If you have no luck in Seattle, please contact me directly
and I will forward her phone # to you. Good luck!

Thanks!
Connie, and the dynamic duo Jacques (Cousteau) and Shmelly
