hey all! hope you are all well.

Been a busy week at the shelter. mommie has been working like mad to get
the valentine's auction going.

Auntie Paige drove to Stratford, Ont and picked up 3 ferrets from the
SPCA. They were removed according to the SPCA Act. They were found in
a puppy mill when the SPCA went in to close it down. They were shocked
to find ferrets in a puppy mill. All three are very underweight and
slightly dehydrated. None knew how to walk properly and one of the three
may have a broken femur (like Romeo). She'll be going into the
University this week.

They are all quite young and they can only guess, but they think they
were going to be used for breeding. The kids are VERY frightened and the
little girl with the possible broken leg is in shut down mode. She'll
need a lot of extra loving.

Mommie's not too worried about the other two as they seem a little more
interested in interacting and exploring. Auntie Paige is sure once they
get over this hump, we'll be dealing with nippers and they'll have to go
spend some time at Camp Paige for some one on one training.

Sadly, because our Criminal Code is so weak when it comes to animal law,
the owners of the puppy mill will probably just get a "slap on the
wrist". We're all hoping and praying the new Bill C-10 will go through
without amendments and toughen our laws.

The shelter took in 2 other kids too. Their names are Sid & Nancy (both
1). Both kids are REALLY thin. mommie can feel all the tiny bones in
their bodies. they get along with the big play group so we're all hoping
they will settle in soon.

Charley went in for his adrenal surgery this week. He made it through
surgery but is having a hard time eating. he's not feeling so well.
The doc wasn't able to get all of his Adrenal out as it was invading
his intestine. she said it was HUGE! Charley and his sister Kester are
at Camp Paige for extra TLC and there is a family who is *thinking* of
adopting them!

Looks like mommie's Skully found a home! He'll have a little brother to
play with. He went to his new home on Saturday and as usual, mommie
cried.....she's SUCH a suck! :)

my love to all! Harley "Bug"
