From May16 FML,
>I will write about Giddie's progress in a separate post...

Ok,...I know the Doc did not give me much hope of Giddie recovering but
it is just soo hard to give up.

I have not dealt with liver problems before and I am asking for any tips,
help or suggestions from anyone who can give them to us.

I'm willing to try anything if there is the slightest chance that it could
help. I just cant give up yet. He don't seem to be in any pain, only
weak. He hasn't been grinding teeth but I give carafate anyway. If he
was suffering in any way, then I would be there to help him go. Giddie
came through exploratory surgery just fine and had a smooth recovery.
The Doc didn't find a tumor but his entire liver was a yellow -green
color with small areas of white to pink spots. Samples were sent off for
histopath.

All along I was hoping that it was adrenal related and fixable but it was
not. The right adrenal gland is cystic but is not the cause of this and
was not removed because of his week condition at that time. He did
receive a Lupron shot for this.

Pathology report is saying: not liver cancer (great relief there) but his
body was not getting enough nutrition and so it started drawing on body
fat and the liver could not digest that much fat Now, that's the way I
understood this, in my layman's mind.

I was so relieved when I heard, *no cancer* until it hit home. How could
this be nutritionally related if he was on good food all these years
except his dad's college years? He said that during that time, Giddie
was getting Wal-Mart food for a while.

Right now Giddeon is not eating on his own except baby food from my
finger. I feed this several times a day and some times I syringe feed,
if he don't eat enough. I still give fluids every day--sometimes every
other day. He will only drink out of the bathtub faucet. His yellow
color has gone away a bit but not completely and his gums and nose are
pale.

His urine is also less orange then before (good urine output) but his
stools are the orange color. ( luckily, no diarrhea so far!) He is
getting .5ml of pediapred 2/day since his glucose was only 62. Since this
is not caused by the pancreas, I don't know if it helps. He is sleeping
most of the time and flat ferreting a lot when he's up and around. He
doesn't seem to have the strength to use the litterbox, so I have him go
on puppy pads. His weight seems to hold pretty good at 21/2 lbs now.

Gosh, if there really isn't anything else we can do for him, what is the
end going to be like for him?

I don't think his kidneys are that great either since his creatinine was
high at that time also. Maybe another blood test in order by now?

I would like to include his blood test and pathology reports but I don't
know just how long of a post I'm allowed here. I will just send them
separately and if they can be combined, great. Anybody who can give me
some suggestions or help on this, I sure would appreciate it.

I don't care how many of these heart stealers one has, loosing them just
seems to get harder and harder.;=3D(

Thanks in advance for any help.
