Hi.
I went to take my ferret out of his cage last night and he stood up
against the side (as usual), but instead of stretching and sliding his
body down the side of the cage, he kind of flopped off to one side. When
I let him out, one of his hind feet was totally limp. It was warm, and I
didn't feel anything that appeared out of joint or out of the ordinary. He
didn't mind my touching (i.e. examination didn`t appear to hurt him), with
the exception of wanting to get down and explore. He'd been in his cage all
day and was fine the night before. He didn't appear to be in any pain, just
kind of surprised when he'd fall over. When I had him belly up in my hand,
checking out his leg, he was only pushing at my hand with the one leg; so it
seems like he just doesn't

He seemed to be putting a little weight on it or have some control of it
this morning as I noticed his toes spread out a little bit when he was
walking, but he's still wobbly.

For the record, he is a 4 year old gib, was a petstore kit who was neutered
and descented before sale. He has never had any other medical problems to
date.

I'll be taking him to the vet, but I thought I'd tap the newsletter brain
power and experience to see if this sounded like anything anyone has ever
seen before. The closest I can come is a stroke, but usually that's the
whole side of the body. This was definitely just his foot/maybe leg.

Any help or info greatly appreciated. You can email if you'd like (I'd like
so I don't have to wait for tomorrow to see if anyone has any ideas) to me

Thanks, Robbin (and Tux the 3 working legs ferret :-(
