This previous Sunday I was watching a special edition of "Newton's Apple"
(on PBS, I think) which focused on domestic pets.

In one segment a woman who wanted to get a new pet was holding an audition
for several different kinds of animals. There was a hedgehog, parrot, etc...
and of course a FERRET! The great thing was that the auditions were being
held in CALIFORNIA; and the woman dicussed how she would need a pet for her
L.A. apartment. No mention was made about ferrets being illegal. I find it
hard to believe that the producers of the show did not know about Ferret
laws in California (I'd like to think that they just chose to ignore such a
ridiculous law).

They did a good profile on ferrets; taking about how cuddly they are and the
need for ferret proofing.
