My 6(?) yr old female ferret, Lizzie, showed signs of adrenal tumor, so in
she went for surgery. Upon opening, the vet saw that the left adrenal had
its own tumor, as did the right. He removed the left adrenal completely,
and "debulked" the tumor on the right, but could not remove it completely
because it had grown around the vena cava. Biopsy showed non-cancerous
tumors for both. The vet suggests an ultrasound in 6 months to see if the
remaining tumor is regrowing, and suggested if so, Lysodren therapy will be
needed. But in a recent post of yours recarding hypoadrenocortical
problems, you mentioned that Lysodren KILLS adrenal glands! Is this just
in too high a dose? Or can the Lysodren therapy halt tumor growth? Lizzie
is on Prednisone (sp?) right now. Your thoughts? Is there a future for
Lizzie?

Thanks,
Erika (owned by Lizzie, Sasha, Misty, Slinky, Socks, and Bear)
