It was a lovely day at de Bridge and SaraFerret was cleaning de
cottage. Its hard to keep de cottage clean with two kits running in
and out all day long. Where did all dis stuff come from? Well lets just
toss it out. Twigs and shells and all dat stuff. Oops! Its seems dat
dis stuff was bits of treasure dat de kits had picked up. So she just
put dem in boxes neatly and hoped dey would stay dat way. All of a
sudden she heard a knock at de door. She opened it and in flew Mimi, de
little girl courier. "Hi SaraFerret, I have an important message from
the Boss. It seems a ferret is getting ready to cross the bridge and
his Mommy wants you to greet him. Do you want me to get the other
ferrets? Here is the note." So SaraFerret took de note and read it.
She sent Mimi on her way to pick up de fuzzies and headed toward de
entrance.

Just in time! A big bibbed silvermitt with a blue flag tied to his tail
was trotting across de bridge. Now what was dat music dat was playing?
I has never heard dat tune before, but he sure seems like he knew it.
When he reached de entrance I could see de flag a bit clearer--it had
some some stripes in one corner and some stars in another---hmm, now
what could dat be. But at any rate, I introduced myself,

"Hi, I am SaraFerret and I am de bridgegreeter. Welcome to de Rainbow
Bridge. Dis is your new forever home. Dat is some nice flag you have
on your tail."

"Hello SaraFerret, my name is Chrony and I belong to Mommy Michelle. I
am a New Zealand ferret....

You noticed my flag. My stripes aren't quite straight and the stars
aren't quite right, but if you look at them closely, you will see that
the one corner is the Union Jack and the other is the Southern Cross.
Do you know where NZ is? Do you know my Mommy? Have you seen any of my
friends here? I hope that I won't be all alone here. I tried really
hard to be real brave when I made that long trip across that swaying
bridge thing."

"Oh, I said, I have heard of NZ. How silly of me not to recognize your
flag. It looks real nifty. I don't know your Mommy personally, but I
have heard of her. I believe you will meet up with some of your friends
later. You see here you won't ever be alone. Here you will never have
to have pain or suffering again. I can see you are a very brave fuzzy
cause I saw you marching across de bridge.."

"Ok, Chrony said, now where are my friends at? Are they hiding
somewhere? And by the way what are those funny things growing out of
your shoulders? I don't mean to be unkind, but they do look a bit
strange."

"Chrony, I replied. You have every right to ask questions. You will see
your friends in a bit. As for dese funny things, dese are wings. Dese
are made for flying about de clouds and you will get your very own pair
of dem."

And so we headed on down de path. But on de way, Chrony saw someone--
Siteva. Oh how happy dey were. Tears of joy and happiness. Bouncing
around and hugs. So we continued on until we reached de Wing House
where de wings were stored. We opened de door and on de counter was a
big box (of course). He opened de box and took out de wings--Bright
blue with red streaks--perfect for a NZ fuzzy who had so proudly
carried his flag across. Siteva helped him put on his wings and I
adjusted his halo. Chrony ran to de big vanity mirror and gazed at his
reflection and den turned to me and said, "Gee I wish Mommy could see
me now." Den I gots an idea. But first, Siteva untied de flag from his
tail and tied it onto a small stick so she could carry it. It made her
so proud to do so. Den we opened de door and went outside. SURPRISE!
Dere was Ash and Chocolate and Little Lakota plus Shorty and Latte.
Mercy, it was a major reunion. Chrony knew that he would not be alone
again.

Den we went down de road to de Misting Pond and sat down beside de cool
clear water and with one swish we saw a vision of Mommy Michelle and
Crusty appear. Dey all started waving and dooking with all of dere
might. Chrony dooked de loudest,

"Mommy, look at me, I has wings now. I can fly now. I feel great now
and I don't hurt anymore. I love you so much. Thank you for loving me.
Thank you for holding me while I crossed de bridge. You were so good
to me."

Den Siteva held de flag high and Chrony started de song and all de
fuzzies broke into dere national anthem: "GOD DEFEND NEW ZEALAND". (To
be honest it was so lovely dat I had a tear in my eye). Den Chrony took
de song and hugs and kisses and wrapped dem with his love and laid dem
on a nearby shooting star which was headed to your house and by de time
you should read dis it should have landed dere. And with another swish
de vision was gone.

As we left dere, we went down de path to Kiwi Clan Cottage where Ash
climbed on top to fasten de flag. How proud dey all were. Dey all
invited me to stay for a game of soccer, but I knew I was outmatched
by dem, so I said my goodbyes.

But as I went back to my cottage I caught myself singing the beautiful
anthem dat I had heard dem singing and I felt all warm inside. So ended
another day at de Rainbow Bridge.

Lovey and Hugs

SaraFerret,
bridgegreeter
