I don't agree with your statement that she has no socialization and is
stubborn. Nor do I agree with disciplining a ferret, or any animal by
sticking them into a cage. Most animals bite out of fear and you need
to find out what they are afraid of: Are they blind, or partially blind
and bite because they don't know who/what you are? Are they deaf? Were
they abused? Are they just plain scared because their environment has
changed?

Animals have no clue why you are putting them into a carrier, they only
know they are in it and do not like it. They do not associate
consequences with their actions.

I have put a ferret back in the cage because they are getting into
something they shouldn't be in while I am trying to block the area
off...I jokingly say they are being "punished" in a time-out, but they
are only in the cage so that I can take care of blocking the area off.

My Ruby ended up in a shelter because her owner was older and could not
care for her, plus her cagemate had died....now, all of a sudden she is
in a new home with new people that she does not know. She was a severe
biter and could only be handled with gloves. A year later, she was
still biting, but only "for attention." She was labelled "No kids. No
other ferrets. Ferret knowledgeable person only. No other pets." I
don't believe labels like that, my first 2 were labelled "No kids" by
the shelter they were in and I had no problems with my grandkids
handling/playing with them. Ruby has been with me for almost a year:
2 grandkids, 1 bird an occasional dog and 3 ferrets and her boyfriend
ferret Tito who visits about once a week. The shelter was amazed. It
took 2 weeks for her to begin sleeping and cuddling with my girls. It
was only after I got her home that I realized that she was at least
partially blind because she lunged for my nose when I was on the floor
with her. She also has no clue anyone is in the room with her unless
they make a noise. She bites my feet and ankles because I like it and
don't mind...she bites no one else. The vet confirmed she can only
probably see shapes and shadows, which is why she does not run into
things or hug the walls.

Anyway, if you find out why an animal or person even, is
acting/responding in a certain way, it is easier to deal with the
problem and correct it in a more responsible and caring manner rather
than throwing them into a carrier when they have no clue why they are
being put there.
