I don't know where you got your information from but you've obviously been
misinformed. The only suburbs in the Twin Cities metro area to prohibit
ferret ownwership are Bloomington and Burnsville. And recent animal control
ordinance changes have all but legalized ferrets in Bloomington. If you
call the city of Minneapolis they will tell you ferrets are banned, however
they have absolutely no law to that effect. What they will quote is an
ordiance which prohibits the keeping of wild animals within the city limits
which they interpret to also include the Domestic Ferret. They have lost
this point in court in the past. Recently Mpls animal control has been told
by the Mpls city attorney's office to stop telling people ferrets are
illegal in the city. This was in response to a complaint about a pet shop
displaying a sign which stated that they could not sell ferrets to anyone
with a Mpls address because they are illegal in Mpls. After hearing from
the city attorney, animal control no longer required the pet shop to display
the sign.

Whenenver you are checking into the legality of ferret ownership always have
a copy of the applicable law or ordinance sent to you. They are often quite
different from what the animal control and public health officals think they
say or interpret them to mean. Remember, something is not illegal unless
there is a law against it.
