To Lisa who asked how to protect the carpet in the corner behind the door:
try rolling a towel up and placing it in the corner along the baseboard of
the wall. My first two boys, who loved that corner behind the door where a
litter box won't fit, must have thought their toilet was remodeled into a
place to take a nap because they stopped using the corner for deposits and
started taking snoozes there.

Of course, as the years went by and the boys got lazier with age, my house
started looking like we used the floor as our dirty clothes hamper. Let's
see -- for years I tried to convince my human sons that the floor was not a
hamper, and then I got ferrets. Worked for me.
