I'm sure that there are some individuals who felt a degree of pleasure or
satisfaction from reading Sam's post about ADV and some New Zealand
ferrets. Shame on you if you did. This has been a very painful situation
for a lot of people. I have in my possession a document from the New
Zealand government telling me very clearly that there was no Aleutians in
New Zealand. There was no reason for *anyone* to doubt that. I have not
tested all of my ferrets yet, but one of my NZ ferrets, Kiwi, has shown
positive for ADV. However, my 5 yr old MF Rosie, who plays with Kiwi
daily, has tested negative. I don't show my ferrets, so I'm not concerned
about spreading the virus. And we have made the decision not to quarantine
anyone. The four ferrets have been together daily for over a year, and I'm
not going to change that now. I hope the ferret people can all avoid the
usual finger pointing and bickering, and focus on the primary goal -- let's
stop this deadly disease somehow!
