[Moderator's note: This could easily get off-topic -- yes, skunks ARE
cousins but please remember we're here for ferrets! BIG]

Skunk Adoration Movie.

Some years ago I was fortunate to view a film short. It was a simple
film and showed the relationship between a middle aged woman, her pet
skunk, and just how well mannered this pet skunk appeared to be.

The film opened with a view of this woman in bed, sound asleep on her
left side, and facing the camera. The bed covers were a little above
waist level. The woman's arms were bare and folded comfortably.

Nothing seemed unusual. However, there was a mass of something more
or less tucked into and intertwined within her arms. It was black and
stood out better as the camera closed in on it.

It was a skunk, a typical white and black skunk about the size of an
ordinary house cat. And it was sound asleep, essentially just under
the sleeping woman's nose.

After what seemed like an unusually long time nothing seemed to be
happening - a sleeping skunk and a sleeping woman side by side.

The skunk began to stir and angled up between the woman's arms, got up
on all fours, stretched and gave a big extended yawn. The woman moved
a little bit.

The skunk dropped down to the floor and, kinda like a duck, waddled
out of the bedroom to the top of a long flight of stairs. The skunk
descended the stairs one by one and after about six steps all that
was seen were the two ears of the skunk receding from full view as it
approached the bottom of the stairs.

For a few minutes nothing appeared to be happening. Then the tops of
two ears were seen, not seen, and seen again as the skunk ascended the
flight of stairs. About six or so steps from the top the skunk came
into full view.

The skunk walked into the bedroom, climbed up on the bed and nuzzled
his way into his favorite situation. The sleeping woman moved her arms
a little bit for the skunk to snuggle right up against her and after
circling around a time or two settled down to his favorite attitude
and slowly closed his eyes. Her hand rested gently on his back.

This film short left me marveling at the litter pan habit of this
particular animal. He climbed out of a warm bed next to his sweetheart
and did a round trip to his litter pan and navigated about 20 steps
both directions.

One smart fella, yes?

Maybe some of you have a ferret or two that will do something akin to
what this skunk did. If so let's hear from you, OK?
