Smudge! Her name is Smudge! I dunno, it sometimes takes a bit for
these things to happen, but it has!

She was routing around in my art drawer (that I honestly didnt think
she could get into, go fig, eh?) and popped out looking very self
satisfied. At that moment I noticed (for the first time, go me) that
she has a black nose.

Im saying to her "Gone and smudged yourself have you?"

and as Im fussing at her schnoz to clean it I realise that its *her*
smudge!

Shes a SMUDGE!

my Smudge...

hehehehehe

Now on to the day's trauma...

THE VETS

Let it be known far and wide that I *heart* Dr. Michael E Zuccaro at
Brook Run Animal Clinic. Oh yes I do. So if you ever need a vet
ferret or otherwise in Richmond Virginia, go to them. Great people.

But I digress.

His (2.2 lbs) and Hers (1.6 lbs) distemper shots, rabies on the 11th.
He is "quite thin but not quite emmaciated" and will "pork up properly
with a well filled food dish no problem" so thats good.

Their feet are "obviously healing from some unpleasantness, but doing
great so Im not worried" Neither are biters and both handle well.
Neither screamed at the shot they got, but Gizmo stalked back into the
carrier that was sitting on the exam table with them and promptly curled
up into the back, deep in the fleece. And I mean STALKED. Pick footed
and tail straight up, muttering. It was kinda funny...

They are asleep right now after the trauma of the shots and the big
dogs in the waiting room (English Mastiff... among others, she was
sooooooo cute!)

Oh!

Pet Peeve of the Day:
People who let their pets roam around the vet's waiting room without
holding onto the leash. Chocolate Lab, about a year old, in particular.
Dont get me wrong, I love dogs, the only reason I dont have one right
now is my Landlord would crap bricks if I did. I was raised with dogs,
I have done a lot of work in rescues and shelters, I love animals. But
that doesnt mean that when your dog is terrorizing my ferrets and jumping
on me when Im trying to calm them down (they were in the carrier, but I
was trying to get them in to see the vet before they both had coronaries)
you can just say "Aww! Isnt that cute? He wants to play!"

*sigh*

As soon as the receptionist got off the phone she kindly told the woman
that if her dog was too much for her to handle they would be happy to
assign a tech to her for an extra 25$... the doggie was abruptly
corraled...

Anyway... Mika (one of the two residing at the boyfriend's diggs, the
other is Binx) is getting fixed on the 13th, not that she thinks shes
broken. Shes young, almost 8 months, so its about time, we wanted her
to be a late alter. And no, shes not a breeder ferret, shes a rescue
from Richmond Ferret Rescue League, but she was about 4 months when
we got her and not yet ready for the snipping.

I think that covers it... probably... for now...

PS-as always... gold star to anyone who reads the whole thing
