My ferret Zeus has recently lost weight. He use to weigh 2.2 lbs. He now
weighs 1.7. I know that's not very much lost weight, but he feels sooooo
bony. I took him to the vet just to be sure, and he is fine. I checked
archives and saw that some ferrets can lose up to 25% of their weight
during the normal season weight loss period. Zeus is eating, pooping, and
his energy level are all the same/normal. I attribute it to the spring
normal weight loss.

When your ferrets lose weight, do they feel bony? When I hold him, he just
feels like what I think a "sick weak" ferret would feel like, but he is
fine.

Someone asked about wood pellets being sold year round. I needed some last
summer and looked in the yellow pages for farm stores/co-ops and they all
had wood pellets, and they carry them year round. So try some farming-type
stores instead of the home repair stores.
