Hi,
what i suggest is get her in for another surgery, there is a possibility
that not everything was removed, i have just recently gone trough that with
my ferret Lucky, i adopted her in Dec, and about a week later she showed a
swollen vulva, she had surgery to remove a right ovarian, and the vet took
out her left adrenal as well, she still had a swollen vulva and showed
signs of being in heat, we had tried hormone treatment, but nothing worked,
finally i decided to take her in to another vet and have an exploratory
done, and she found a big piece of ovarian remnant in her....i was VERY
surprised, (she also found her right adrenal was enlarged) I had trusted my
vet and could never have imagined that he could have missed something so
obvious as that ovarian remnant, her right adrenal could have becomme
enlarged after the removal of the left one, but there was no excuse for
leaving in the ovarian remnant....

After she had her second surgery, her vulva started to become normal sized
whithin days, and her behavior started to change whithin a coupple of
weeks, now she plays games, and she plays with toys, and with everyone
where before the surgerys she was mostly obsessed with her maternal
instinkts...

I don't know if this could be the case with your friends ferret, but it
sure sounds like it to me....

Hope this could be to any help.

Sincerely
Josephine
