Hello All,

I have a 5 1/2 year old albino ferret, Scooter, that has had problems
with flat patches on skin. They look something like an abrasion. they
are reddish brown in color. they are like a concentration of dots. The
patches start out about 1/4" in size and then spread into larger
configurations. No definite pattern. This has been ongoing off and on
for over a year. They seem to be now getting worse.

In the most recent occurrence, they first were appearing on Scooter's rear
portions of trunk about 6 months ago. He was treated about 2 1/2 months
ago with antibiotics and ointment. They almost entirely cleared up. He
also had adrenal problems & an enlarged spleen and had adrenal and spleen
removal surgery about a month ago. Scooter took longer to recover than my
younger ones have when they have had adrenal surgery; but he is eating,
playing and climbing and tunneling just like a trooper now. The vet put
him on Clavamox for ten days after the surgery and the spots nearly
completely disappeared. He has now been off the antibiotics about a week.
The patches are coming back on his left side of his lower neck and center
back. My vet does not know what this is.

Please, has anyone experienced anything like this with their fuzzies or
have heard or seen it diagnosed? Thank you.
