Dear FML,

My first post, but I have been with you a while. Has anyone else heard
of this ?

I have 7 fuzzies of various ages and sexes, all rescues. They all enjoy
walks on leads in the country (I'm in Kent England), sniffing rabbit and
hedgehog trails etc. My youngest, Honey, bred for polecat , hunting
qualities, had her first walk this weekend (she has been in the garden,
but bolts for the back door everytime she hears a blackbird.

She was fine for about 20 mins, and was bouncing around in the long
grass, when a high speed commuter train went past about 500 yards away.
She immediatey turned to face me, and 'barked' in alarm twice, before
bolting up my leg and hiding under my arm. It was not the high pitched
squeak she makes, if fighting with the others becomes a bit too rough.
No bad smell or bog brush tail, just a bark - a bit like a young fox.
I have kept ferrets for over 5 years, and have never had this reaction
from any of the others.

On topic - they all recognise and respond to ' Treaties', 'Home time',
'Bad boy/girl', and their favourite 'Walkies'.

There was a TV programme on BBC1 on Sat about pets, they had some ferrets
opening a fridge door, unaided, and removing the contents, there were
also people in the audience with very well behaved ferrets on their laps.
It was good to see.

TTFN, Jackie, with fuzzies Pagan, Kai, Bruce, Merlin (found in a
dustbin!!), Leila, Ruby, and Honey
