I for one think the memory of the DMK kids and those selfless folks who
trudged through that rescue and had to visit that hell hole should live
on forever. We should never forget and always be aware that situations
like this may still exist and may some day need to be addressed
again....God forbid.

I had the pleasure of living with three of the DMK kids, Frankie and
Jerry (brothers) and Erica, a strong willed little patterned white
nipper. Unfortunately they were not with me for more than two years.
Jerry passed suddenly and I found him in his hammy with Frankie holding
him close. I remember feeling very strongly that Frankie would be next.
I scooped him up quickly and tried to tell him not to dare leave me,
that there were still good times to be had. He promptly put his paw on
my face and turned his head as if he didn't want to hear any of it,
that his mind was made up. Neither of them had one symptom of being
ill....and Frankie passed a week later. I was devastated....even though
that silent voice told me to expect it. They were both big bulldog
chumbly happy ferrets. The best thing about their passing is that they
didn't fall ill and linger. They dooked and danced until their last
day.

Blessings to each and every one of you from around the country that
assisted with this rescue operation. I don't think there is a ferret
person out there that didn't contribute in some way be it in the
physical operation itself, transporting, donating supplies or money.
We were in the middle of running raffle for our own kids at the time
and when the word came out of the overwhelming need for these kids I
changed the raffle to benefit the kids of the DMK rescue. We raised
a little over $600. Most everyone that gave these kids forever homes
did so not knowing what to expect with behavioral issues without a
care about color, size, sex or health issues. This one took the whole
village and the ferret village came through.
