A while ago my husband and I were interested in finding out more about
Ferrets Northwest and specifically about an Ed Lipinski. We also wanted to
adopt another ferret. We made contact with Mr. Lipinski and were invited
to come see his shelter. We arrived and were shown into a waiting room and
shortly there after we were shown thru the shelter/breeding area. The area
was in a basement, and every nook and cranny held the smallest cages I have
ever seen a ferret in. And it seemed every ferret there was pregnant or had
a litter. My husband and I observed and asked questions. We were appalled
that ferrets given up for adoption were being bred. I guess we all have to
draw our own conclusions about this kind of shelter. By the way, we did
adopt a ferret jill of unknown history which was bred by one of Mr.
Lipinski's hobs. Although the result was a false pregnancy (thank God).
No discussion was held concerning spaying/neutering, although we presented
ourselves as novices. Is this a shelter?
