Announcing the 3rd annual Three Rivers Ferret Follies Picnic.  The picnic
is in Pittsburgh, PA at North Park, Lakeshore Shelter.  This year's picnic
will be September 18th and start at 12 Noon.
 
ALL Ferrets MUST have written documentation of current RABIES and DISTEMPER
vaccinations.
 
Join the Three Rivers Ferret Club for a fun ferrety day in the outdoors!
We have lots of stuff scheduled throughout the day, including:
 
FUN MATCHES: Cup tip, Tube Race, Ferret Jockey, Paper Bag Escape, Longest
Whiskers, Heaviest Hob, Lightest Jill, Flower Pot Excavation, Best
Swimmer*, Blackest Nose, Obstacle Course and a Cutest Photo Contest
** Each fun match costs $1.00.
 
SEMINARS:  Ruth Heller, D.V.M. will present basic ferret anatomy and offer
tips on when something may be wrong with your ferret.  Gina Hart, TRFC
Education Chairperson will be showing you how to prepare for a ferret show
and basic care tips.  Chris Palaski, TRFC/PFRA Shelter Director, will hold
a demonstration ring of judging and explain the differences in judging
styles.  Cost to attend is $1.00
 
VENDORS: The Westmoreland County branch of the PFRA will be at the picnic
to hand out literature and show pictures of the ferrets available for
adoption.  They will have Cheweasels available for purchase.  On of the
TRFC members, Jackie DeCarlo will be available to take digital photographs
of your ferret(s) with a variety of props.  This is a great and easy way to
get photographs of your ferrets to share with friends and family via the
internet or to use as screen savers for your personal computer.  (Cost
undetermined) Once again this year's picnic will include the Paw Painting
activity for those interested in a "paw"-made painting from your fur kids.
Cost is $2.00 per painting.
 
LUNCH: The club will provide hot-dogs, hamburgers, condiments, drinks and
paper supplies.  All adults wishing to participate in the picnic are asked
to bring a small covered dish to share.
 
PLUS!!  Thanks to the generous ferret community, this year's picnic will
include a raffle of great ferret supplies and novelties.  If you donate an
item to the shelter's wishing well, such as paper towels, food, hammocks,
towels, ferretone, nutrical) you will receive one raffle ticket for each
item donated.
 
COST:  Adults $5.00 club members, $7.00 non-members; Children 7-12 $3.00
club members, $4.00 non-members; Children under 7 are free.

* There will be a pool available for the ferrets to "cool-off" in if the
weather persists.  Please bring your own towels if you wish to use this
free service or to participate in the best swimmer contest.
 
** Bring your best pictures of your ferrets for the cutest photo contest.
Each photo will be numbered and displayed for others to vote on.  The
winners will be announced during the awards ceremony.  All pictures will
be returned.
