Had the funniest experience at the vet the other day.  I had a ferret
staying at the vet for some tests.  Bear does not think the vet is
Disneyland, and tends to get very agitated.  When I stopped in to pick up
Bear, one of the vet techs said that althought Bear was cute, she was a
handful.  Bear managed to dump her food bowl and had been biting her cage
door.  But one of the vet techs found a way to calm her down.  She put a
white noise machine, set to ocean sounds, and placed it next to the
carrier.  Bear was instantly calm and mesmerized by the sound.
 
So guess what our household needs!  A white noise machine!
