Boy, I thought I had discovered some wonderful new secret the other day when
I took Hoot'n'Annie out with me whilst I planted tulip and lily bulbs.  As
soon as I put trowel to dirt Annie ran over and said, "Let a pro show you
how it isnext thing I knew Hoot joined in and in no time we had all the
bulbs planted.  We stayed outside and raked leaves and jumped in 'em and
tunneled in 'em and when I turned around and looked at the area that we had
just planted, I saw a squirrel poised ready to dig, drooling in anticipation
of a juicy bulb.  A lightbulb went off and I remember someone (?  here on
the FML?) mentioning that ferret poop made for good squirrel deterrant.
Well sir, I marched into the house, grabbed the litter pan and did some
strategic placing of ferret bombs.  Low and behold, it worked!!!
 
Unbelievable...I've never managed to get the bloody squirrels to stay away
from the bulbs, even though I feed them peanuts enough to satisfy a two ton
elephant.  Next thing I knew, the news had spread, and my next door neighbor
came knocking at my door sheepishly asking if she could "borrow a cup
of...(well, not sugar)".  Anyway, I know ther is a lesson in here somewhere,
but I'm not gonna try and find it!  Surfice it to say that during planting
season the kids sure do come in handy!!

PS:  I also found out that a dig in the dirt works much better than a bath
to deoderize my fuzz monkeys...they end up smelling like mushrooms ;)
